Coming up this week, and I'm positive it will curb-stomp SUPERMAN RETURNS.

I'm not sure when exactly I'll see it, so I'll have to ask my friends what they're up to if anyone wants to join. I've been so busy lately that it's kind of crazy how this film is just creeping up and is only less than a week away before I realized it.

Man I'm telling you, this summer movie season is taking off FAST! I still haven't even seen Star Trek: Into Darkness. Hopefully the wife and I will be seeing TMOS Saturday night. An early father's day present for me. Plus she's headed to do missionary work in Haiti on Monday so it's our last night out together before she's out of contact for a week.

Wait,

Man Of Steel is about Superman???

I thought it was sequel to Real Steel with Hugh Jackman.

I can't wait to see this. Unfortunately the crappy theatre here doesn't do midnight shows for anything (bunch of cheap-asses) so I'll likely be going Sunday night.

I wasn't expecting to be looking forward to a DC movie this much but this movie is doing one hell of a job of making it look amazing.

I just hope it's not too over the top.  This much action is usually reserved for the third film.  How the hell do you top a full on alien invasion?  Doomsday maybe?  Can't wait to see it though!

They might not have to try to top it. With a stronger story they could make it just as engaging and have audiences on the edge of their seats. A good example is the Nolan Batfilms. BATMAN BEGINS having the entire city in danger of the fear toxin spreading. Followed by a film where the climax involves two ferries with explosives. Plenty of other good examples can be found where the stakes aren't as big but the story is powerful enough. THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN, SUPERMAN II (though it has a better story, its execution can be debated), ect. Joss Whedon also explained that his next AVENGERS film won't be as big as the first but instead be more intimate. It always just depends on how strong the stories are and as long as the characters are engaging enough to follow them.
