I recall the initial rollout being disastrous. However, as with many other MMO-type games, the kinks were worked out and the community has thrived. A major expansion is due out this year which sends players to a brand new area. Bethesda has been keeping things patched up, though some things get broken again in a patch fixing something else. I hear the Battle Royale mode is fun and the addition of NPCs has created a more Fallout-y experience.
