Probably my favorite gaming franchise of all time. I've been revisiting SNAKE EATER and as always it's a hell of an engaging game. It's definitely my favorite of the whole series. It's too bad David Hayter will not reprise Big Boss in THE PHANTOM PAIN but I hope Kiefer Sutherland does the role justice.

My rankings:

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid 2: The Sons of Liberty
Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear: Ghost Babel
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
Metal Gear

I still need to finish GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS and PEACE WALKER, I've been neglecting video games for awhile so it's time to remedy that.

From what I've been reading, it's not Big Boss in TPP, it's Snake in the 80s, which is why they went with a different voice actor to make him sound younger and not as dark.

Kojima said Sutherland was cast because he wanted someone who could play an older Big Boss. In the 80s Snake was only a kid and his accelerated aging hadn't kicked in.

Well, here's the trailer.

Yeah he's definitely Big Boss.  The character he saves in the trailer is Master Miller and the kid if I'm not mistaken is Liquid Snake.  I wonder if Solidus is in it too.

That's what I figured. The trailer was great, I really like the open world concept incorporated and I look forward to trying it out. That riding on the side of the horse is a great bit, adding to the stealth element.

Other than that, I just finished replaying SNAKE EATER. It will be hard for any new installment to really top that as my favorite. It's the culmination of everything that came before, and setting it in the jungle like the original MSX game was a great move after using military bases for so long. I actually call that the best James Bond video game never made. Whoever EON hires next to develop games seriously needs to look at the MGS series as inspiration because that's what they should have been like in the first place, but everything for the most part is more focused on trying to be the next GOLDENEYE 64.
